About

My approach

Aurora borealis/australis over three people around a campfire on the shore of a lake.

I am a queer-friendly and gender-affirming HPCSA Registered Counsellor. My aim is to facilitate my clients living their most fulfilling lives. My areas of special interest include supporting my clients to navigate and consolidate their identities across the spectrum of gender and sexual diversity. I also empower partners to improve their relationship skills. My other experience includes working with the areas of self-concept, adapting to life changes, communication, emotional regulation, stress and burnout, conflict resolution, grief and loss, and optimised well-being.

I believe that everyone has the right to live with their optimal mental health. Each person has the value and potential to thrive. As such, I approach counselling through a decolonial, intersectional lens.

My professional training and skills integrate the evidence-based principles of brain-based polyvagal theory, schema theory, play interventions, and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). I have also completed additional training to become qualified in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) Level 1, Strategic Relational Pattern Analysis (RPA), the Interactional Pattern Analysis (IPA), and the Integrative Brain-Based Approach (IBBA).

My story

I am a transgender woman and wheelchair-using amputee. I earned a BA Honours in Psychology from UNISA and a BPsych equivalent from the Cornerstone Institute. My commitment to challenging the stigma around mental illness led me to become a SADAG mental health ambassador in 2014.

Outside of my private practice, I host Intersectional Psychology, a podcast that explores psychology’s role in promoting social justice. I volunteer at Lifeline Western Cape, where I do telephone and text counselling, as well as training new mental health counsellors and facilitating the Personal Growth and Counselling Skills courses. I also facilitate the support group at the Triangle Project, a Cape Town-based NGO that supports gender-diverse people. As of 2026, I am also working on a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology.

Facilities

All my counselling and assessment sessions are conducted online via Zoom or Zencastr. You can join from the comfort of your own home or a safe space.

Individual counselling

R705 for a 55-minute session.

I am a Registered Counsellor providing inclusive, person-centred counselling and mental health coaching for individual adults and adolescents, either online or in person. Potential clients have the option of a free 15-minute intake session for us to get to know each other and assess the situation that counselling would address. Alternatively, clients are also welcome to begin counselling straight away.

Relationship counselling

R1,155 for a 90-minute session.

Counselling is available for couples or polyamorous partners, groups, and family systems. Partner or group sessions typically focus on improving relationship dynamics, communication, managing conflict, trust, vulnerability, roles in the relational system, and other challenges.

With partners, I usually have individual 45-minute sessions with each person before we start counselling with all partners together. This gives me a chance to get to know each of you, and to understand your needs in the situation or relationship.

Career and subject choice assessments

R3,500 for a full assessment, report, and guidance.

Career assessments: I provide comprehensive career assessments and counselling for adults and Grade 11-12 learners seeking guidance on careers that will suit their personality, interests, and strengths.

Subject choice assessments: These are primarily for Grade 9-10 learners choosing school subjects that will prepare them for a career that suits their profile.
